william bradfordWilliam Bradford was inspired by the Puritan ideals early in life, and he joined the Separatists when he was 17. He believed that Puritans should break completely from the Church of England. In an effort to establish some freedom, Bradford organized a voyage across the Atlantic to America. Bradford was the first to refer to this group of travelers as pilgrims. Of Plymouth Plantation is the best history we have of their early struggles.
